Pants Masters Workshop
Thursday March 19, 2020; 9:00 to 4:00 with a one hour break for lunch.
Learning objective – students will learn how to personalize the negative space inside the crotch for the best fitting pants they can possibly have. The class will be drafting a pattern then learn how to make the changes on the paper even before any fabric is considered. A mock up will be sewn in class to fit the body. They will learn how to “read” the lines and make the adjustments accordingly. The takeaway from this class is an in-depth understanding of women’s anatomy along with the crotch curve, something that is still somewhat taboo to talk about. However, for a tailor/sewer it is necessary to understand how the negative space, curve, centre back on the draft works in conjunction with the person’s shape, where the woman carries her weight; front/back/thighs. This along with the fabric’s properties/hang to make the dream pants.
This workshop is for the experienced sewer/pattern maker.
