Hello all I hope you enjoyed the trip down the raglan memory lane last night! I felt the differences and similarities needed to be highlighted before we move on.
For this week you are to draft your pattern for the main project; jacket or coat with a raglan sleeve of your choice. We briefly discussed the idea of having a collarless jacket and I thought it would be alright to do so without losing any marks. In retrospect it is not fair to the students who are creating a collar to be graded by the same criteria as the collarless ones. So in the interest of fairness, I will have to stick to the original plan of having a collar of your choice as part of the jacket. In Tim Gunn's words "make it work" to your advantage. The collar is stipulated in the syllabus and in my descriptions since the beginning so I'm afraid it has to stay as part of the jacket......
So please have your pattern finished and mock up cut ready to sew in class. If you would like the pattern checked before cutting the mock up please bring the muslin/fabric to class early and I will check the pattern so you can cut the mock up before class starts.
Have a great week!
