Hello folks not sure if anyone else encounters this issue, I am making a mother of the bride dress with some very beautiful lace and a silk charmueuse. The lace has a beautiful scalloped edge that I want to incorporate into the design but everything I try has been vetoed by the lace!!!!!! Imagine being overruled by fabric!
I always tell my students to listen to the fabric it will always steer you in the right direction. I just wish it was not quite so vocal :) a little co-operation would be nice, but nooooo this particular lace has to have it's way or the highway....... What a diva!!!
My poor client must think I have gone off the deep end when we have such conversations:
Maria "The lace won't let me do that"
Client "Ummm, do what you think is best, you know what you're doing"
Maria "The lace wants to be queen but needs godets to show the fabric in order to balance everything out"
Client "OK.....I guess you know what you are talking about I can't understand what you are saying"
I'm glad this client is a dear friend and an overall wonderful person or the people with the straight jackets would have been by to pick me up already!!!
