These girls are AMAZING! They cut, marked, sewed and wore gored skirts in less than one day! I am very proud of these young women and how far they have come in such a short time. My beginner as well did an amazing job of her mock up. Next week it's the pencil skirt for her.
For next class please bring in fabric of your choice to create a circle or semi-circle skirt. Be sure it's a soft, drapy fabric so it will hang well. You will also need a zipper and some interfacing for the waistband. I also want you to start thinking of the original skirt for the following week which is the last class and the skirt that will be marked so you will be entirely on your own, I will be there as an observer only. Please bring in a sketch for the original skirt with you next week so I can look at it and give you advice on fabric selection and work involved. The skirt must be an original design that you create, it can incorporate any of the skirt styles you have studied up until now. For example; you can have a semi-circle skirt with a yoke or with points, like a handkerchief skirt, you can add volants or gather the waist, make it assymetrical..... It's your choice, you know how fond I am of creative thinking :) Comments are closed.
