What a bundle of energy this gal is!! Unbelievable in a short 2 and half hours she adjusted her mock up, her mom's mock up AND she traced and sewed together the pajama pants almost to the end!!! We were both missing elastic or they would have been finished. BTW it was Jill's first time sewing on an industrial machine so that was another learning curve for her to overcome which she did with flying colours!!!
The best part is her pants fit very well, I don't go easy on my students constantly pushing them past where they think their limits are and they rise to the occasion with ease. I also love when they add to their own homework with excitement!! I give enough homework as it is but they insist on doing even more, I guess this is a good sign it means they are excited even and more important are understanding the work. This makes me happy! Great job Jill!!!
Homework is to draft and sew a mock up using mom’s measurements and adjustments. Add the elastic to pajama pants. Draft a new pattern using personal measurements and all the new findings from the mock up ready to add the pockets and front fly zipper. For self imposed homework make a new pair of pants with no side seams from start to finish to include an elastic at the waistband and if you choose at the ankles as well. :)
Next week we will be adding pockets and a front fly zipper plus a waistband using the new draft. There will be tracing involved, lots of tracing....
