It was so good to see Isabella after a long Holiday break! This young woman is a wonderful student and wise way beyond her years! I actually timed her to see how long it would take for a beginner to draft a front and back because I have been getting some flack from youtube watchers for the video on a bodice draft in under 5 minutes. Well I am happy to tell you that a beginner doesn't take much longer to draft a front complete with shaping! It took Isabella about 8 minutes to draft a front! So there doubters!
In less than one hour we had discussions, she drafted a front sheath, back sheath made the necessary adjustments based on the mock up from the previous class, learned how to change the armhole and if that's not enough Isabella also drafted another front with a different neckline AND a self-facing! Believe it or not that is the whole truth.
I digressed, this is about homework.....
Homework is to finish the armhole facing on mock up. Trace pattern for both jumpers; sheath jumper will be lined and can be cut out at home, stitch together darts on both the lining and fabric front and back, stitch centre back seam to the zipper end of the opening to install invisible zipper. Mom will try on mock up next class if necessary. Bring in jumper ready to sew together in class, invisible zipper, also paper pattern pieces for the front buttoning jumper, the same back may be used as the other pattern.
have a great week!
