Well it's been a while since Isabella's last class, I really miss my students when I don't see them for a while so I was very happy today. Seems there is no place I would rather be than teaching....
Isabella completed her homework for the most part, what she didn't get we covered in class. What a smart cookie this young woman is! I had her try to draft a man's shirt on her own, no small feat for any pattern maker especially someone so young. She got part of the way and then stopped because she could not quite get the pattern, totally what I was expecting but I like to challenge my students because I won't always be there to guide them so I make them think! Today we finished the raglan sleeve knit top with a rib-knit around the neckline, so I got Isabella to do a practice piece before attempting it and of course she did it very well! I even broke out my new cover stitch machine for her to try! Bet it's going on a wish list soon! I think her mom might be more than a little annoyed with me LOL! I have to show students how to professionally finish garments after all :) Homework is to create a mock up of the man’s shirt, fit the model and make notes. Try to make another knit top for a sibling using the rib-knit for the neckline. Remove the sleeves on fleece top, open the side seams and replace the sleeves properly then close the seams before adding collar and zipper. Next class we will be covering the collar and cuffs for the man’s shirt, go over any necessary adjustments on the pattern and finalizing all the pattern pieces. Finish the fleece top by adding the collar and zipper. Comments are closed.
