Another great class with Andrew especially after last week I had to cancel because I was sick. This week we had a double class to sew together a dress for his sister. In four hours this young man cut, sewed, finished with facings a sheath dress; the first dress ever that he has sewn!!! How cool is that!
Andrew is very diligent at taking notes and taking pictures/videos of demos so he can refer to them at home. He is very meticulous in his work and will be an excellent tailor for both men's and women's wear, he understands the draft very well and is really grasping all the makings and directions on the pattern pieces. I am very happy he decided to include ladies wear into his repertoire, he even said that I am 1000% right is saying that women's clothing is much more complicated than men's wear to construct and fit. Glad to hear once in a while I get something right LOL!!!
Homework is to finish the hem by serging slip stitching in place, finish the facings by tacking down with strategically placed slip stitches. Also make another mock up in a different cut but finished in the same manner, with neckline and armhole facings. Different measurements would also be helpful.
Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year along with your family, see you in 2017!
