B.Y.O.P. Wednesday class

4/30/2015

Hello ladies here is your homework for this week:
Hyacinthe - pants with new pattern, please cut the pants add the pockets and front fly zipper.  You are an expert at both already!  In class we can finish the pants by adding a waistband and hemming but before we do that we will perfect the fit.

Mary – vest to match pants; great job on the pants!  You learned a lot with this project.  For the vest please create the pattern according to the book instructions, make it as long/short as you like it, add a pocket or welt if you like and at the back you can choose to add a small belt or just shape it with fish eye darts.  It's your choice if you want to have a fabric back or lining back, you can cut the fabric out at home, mark the pattern pieces bring them in ready to finish the vest in class.  We will sew the lining first and fit it and then work on the fabric.

Danielle – blouse; Not sure what you have in mind but I am sure it will be spectacular just like all your other projects!

Audrey – original skirt with tucks and Volant; Quite the challenge you decided on!  Good for you for going for it!  Like I said in class I would suggest you cut a full circle volant and a semi-circle volant for the mock up to see which you like better for the skirt.  For the mock up you could cut only the front just to see the difference between them and then decide which to go with.  Will this skirt be lined?  If so the lining should be only a pencil skirt without the tucks and should be the length of the skirt to the top of the volant.  Lining it is a great way of finishing the hemline and volant at the same time so if you have all the components cut and partially put together we can finish the skirt in class on Wednesday.  Great job on the previous skirts as well!

Berry – mock up using revised pattern and sleeve mock ups;  the newcomer to the class, welcome!  You are doing a second mock up using the revised pattern pieces to check the fit on the top.  I think you will be very pleased with the outcome as I was very pleased with the initial mock up!  It was decided you were going to add sleeves so please draft a sleeve at home, cut them out and add them to the revised mock up.  Bring it in for a fitting also bring in some fabric to make a real one you can wear.  Let's keep it simple at first and then add to it as you progress so please bring a zipper of your choice for the centre back.

This is such a great group of women to work with the day goes by and no one realizes it we are having so much fun!  Great job with the circle skirts this week!  I think everyone is in love with a laser level on a tripod for hemming purposes!  Danielle even got a high-low semi-circle skirt  out of the deal!  They are the easiest skirts ever, Hyacinthe knocks one off in an hour or less!  Thank you
Audrey for starting a trend :)
Have a great week!
