Looking forward to our vacation starting on Jan. 5 2015, I will be unplugged for the duration so any emails will be answered upon my return. If you have any questions regarding the new courses please contact me now and I will be happy to answer your queries.
Looking even more forward to starting the new skype classes with students who can't travel to the school even one who live in ALASKA! I am very excited to commence this journey with her and share this wonderful art that is pattern drafting.
There is a new intake of students at Georgian College starting January 20, 2015 spaces are still available at all three campuses; Barrie, Muskoka and Owen Sound. If you are interested or have been thinking about the program now is the time to start it may be a while before the skirts section comes around again. This is the best way to become acquainted with the tools of the trade and begin thinking like a designer/fitter.
Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
Looking forward to the new year and new challenges starting with the fashion show designs due on January 15, 2015. Please be sure you have a design picked out and all the information ready to send to me by email so I can forward them to Veronique and we can start working on the presentation. This is a very fun event where everyone has a great time!
Have a great and safe Holiday season see you in the new year.
TODAY WE WELCOMED A BRAND NEW GRANDDAUGHTER INTO THE WORLD! What a special day when the miracle of life happens! This is grandchild number 4 in our family I am truly blessed!
Hello all and thank you for a great 5 weeks of all day classes. My Saturdays will not seem complete without you ladies sewing together! I hope you have a great Holiday season full of happiness and good health.
But the fun doesn't stop here, there are still some outstanding items that need to be handed in. As was decided in class the due date will be January 3, 2015 in the morning. We can meet at my studio or we can skype depending on the weather but we can cross that bridge when we get to it.
As discussed the final exam will be a dress of an original design incorporating 75% (minimum) of the fabric provided for you, it must have sleeves; the cut/design is up to you. Any of the techniques learned so far are acceptable so get creative and come up with something spectacular! The only thing I expect is perfection, so if the dress fits with no drag or pull lines, all the seams are perpendicular/parallel to the floor, it's finished just a nice on the inside as on the outside you have nothing to worry about. The marking will be 45% for fit, 45% for workmanship and 10% for creativity. click here for rubric
Have a great day
Hello class can't believe this is our last Saturday together for quite a while. Please bring in your garments to be graded as well as the mock princess dress with sleeves. I want to show you how to mark the neckline so that it is perfectly symmetrical when sewing the facing in plus how to decide which neckline to use if it is still undecided. The capes I have already seen look OUTSTANDING I am so pleased and sure you are too!
Have a great rest of the week!
A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO ALL MY STUDENTS FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF BEING A PART OF THEIR LIVES! I say this with great humility and mean every word!
Looking forward to the new year and new classes, most of all the upcoming fashion show on April 25, 2014. An evening in Paris is the theme, the challenge is students must find a French designer of the past, choose a favourite look and update it. There is no specific era only that it's a French designer, by the sounds of things it will be so much more than an updated look we are all going to be in for some education as well on past fashions. I, for one can't wait!
Have a great Holiday season full of love, happiness and good health!
