Hello all hope the Holidays have been good so far! Wishing everyone a great start to the New Year, may it be filled with joy, good health and prosperity.
The January 6, 2014 private class will be from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm with a one hour lunch break from 12 to 1, please bring a packed lunch, I do have a microwave to heat up if you so desire. We will be sewing a pencil skirt on that day so please bring in a mock up as well as the pencil skirt pattern, your fabric and basic sewing kit. I do have a couple of sewing machines so it's not necessary to bring in your own unless you prefer to work on your machine. If you have any questions please contact me by email or through the contact form page. Until then relax and enjoy the festivities! Hello all hope you are enjoying your time off so far! As stated in class I was very generous with handing out the final exam assignment and made it due on January 4, 2014. I will be available between 10 and 11 am at my studio for grading. You will have to try on the skirt and show me the inside to see the workmanship. It MUST be different from the one created in class except for one student (you know who you are!) who did not have the benefit of taking the drafting class. I would also like to see the finished skirt that was started in class but due to the complexity of the design in some cases, could not be finished in the allotted time.
Please be on time with the exam, the only thing that will excuse any tardiness will be inclement weather. Have a great holiday! Hello all hope you are having a great week so far! I have a rubric for you to print so you can see what is expected when sewing the final original skirt. I don't expect anything less than you would expect from yourself when creating a garment. Click here for the rubric.
See you Saturday Congratulations on a job well done last week, two skirts in one day! One student actually created not one, not two, not three but FOUR skirts! Wow is all I can say!
This is also our last class, an original skirt design and execution. Please create you cut the your pattern at home and a mock up would be ideal to bring to class so I can see it before you cut the fabric. Your design was already approved last week so you are good to go. The final exam will follow the last class and will be due in two weeks on Dec. 21, 2013. It will be a second original skirt of a different design, a rubric will be handed out next week with the assignment. This is worth 100% of your final mark. Keep up the good work! Hello all hope you had a great week so far! This Thursday we will be draping! Please bring a pencil skirt front with some chiffon or sheer fabric students will be draping each other, should be fun!
Don't forget to bring a lot of pins! The bias skirts will be graded so please be sure to have them with you ready to try on for the fit. |
