Happy New Year!

12/31/2011

Happy New Year to all, may 2012 be a very happy and healthy one for everyone.
Looking forward to starting the courses once again, especially the sewing classes at Le Grand Chic Italia!  I have been trying to finalize the class schedule and have a couple of outstanding items before I can go ahead and carve it in stone!  Very excited to have students able to register online, it makes life much easier for all.
ciao see you in 2012!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!

12/18/2011

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.  May the New Year bring only good things your way and be filled with health, happiness and prosperity.
This has been an amazing year for me, I would like to say that it has been my honour, pleasure and privilege to teach all my students.  CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FIRST GRADUATES!  Enjoy finishing the blazers, take your time to be sure the workmanship is good and when you are ready to hand them in please let me know.  The last date to hand in your work will be on January 11, 2012.  Take care and enjoy the Holidays.
Ciao

To the graduates of the European Pattern Making course:

12/15/2011

It has been a wonderful year of teaching for me.  I have seen students’ ability grow and blossom over this time and would like to thank each and every one for giving back more than what they received. I will miss each and every one of you, it has been my honour, pleasure and privilege to teach you.  Please use the skill set you learned in these classes in good health and enjoy every moment of creating for yourself and others.  If there are some words of wisdom I leave you with is this; use your eyes and hands to make a decision, just because the book doesn’t have it, doesn’t mean it can’t be done.  Challenge yourselves to think outside the box.  Follow your own path and do it on your terms, in the end you will not please every one so please yourself (as the song says).

Last class

12/13/2011

Well tomorrow is our last class and some of you will be graduating.  CONGRATULATIONS!!!  Go and buy yourself something nice for Christmas you deserve it!  I will miss all of you but happy that you have completed the course successfully.  Tomorrow we will be completing the jacket and will get started as soon as you come in.  Don't forget your buttons and if you have the small ironing board please bring it as well, there will be a lot of pressing going on!  Hopefully we will have some time just to relax a bit and enjoy each others' company

Homework module 6; week 5

12/8/2011

Hello ladies once again you outdid yourselves!  I am very happy with your progress one and all!

For your homework this week you are to add interfacing to hemline as described in class and on your sheets, install the lining as described in class and on your sheets.  Just to re-cap sew only the outer edge of the jacket complete with under collar to the upper collar and facing, starting from the edge of the facing to the edge of the facing on opposite side.  Trim seam allowances, turn to the right side and press.  Be sure the lining and jacket are the same width and lining sits on jacket without pulling, if it's slightly larger, it's better. If it is tight please adjust that to sit properly on jacket by letting out a little at the centre back.

Cut interfacing for the sleeve hem please if you are using it and bring it in ready to go on Wednesday.  We will be working until the jackets are finished. Bring in your buttons as well as shoulder pads.

tonight's class

12/7/2011

Hello ladies, hope your homework is all done are almost finished the jackets, I finished mine and wore it already!  We could use the small ironing and sleeve boards once more tonight please....
Also please bring in some safety pins they will come in handy for hemming the sleeves.
Have a great day.

Homework for module 6; week 4

12/1/2011

First of all let me say how incredibly proud I am of each and every one of you!  You have done a FANTASTIC job so far on the blazers, the fit is unreal, so beyond good.

Homework will be to finish unfinished work.  Get sleeves ready for installation next week by stitching them together purchasing felt pieces or using bamboo to support sleeve cap, purchasing shoulder pads and narrow twill tape.  The sleeves will be installed completely in class along with the lining to finish jacket.  Please bring sewing machines next week.  You are to stitch together the lining pieces along with the front facing and over collar. Remember the centre back is to have a pleat (vent) and is to be machine basted from 4 cm below the neckline to just above the waistline, the rest is to be stitched. The jacket will be finished for the most part next week if all the homework is completed, please try and do your level best to complete everything and as always if there are any questions call or write you know I am always willing to answer questions.
