Well Christmas is over, thank god! This year has been very hard for me, missing my dad and all the pressures of the Holiday were just a little overwhelming. Anyway I survived and got to work on the wedding gown for a couple of days to fit the dress perfectly and we have a perfect fit! In the process it was re-designed and edited until we came up with a very simple, elegant dress the really reflects my daughter-in-law to be, sophisticated and beautiful! Can't wait to post pictures of the finished product, but not until AFTER the wedding, so you will have to wait, sorry. We went to my favourite fabric stores yesterday for more stuff and came away with some amazing fabrics for a cape and shawls and the train etc. Some trim for the very long cathederal veil.
On the school front I have 12 students signed up for the pants module! Great news! Hopefully it will be a mild winter so driving will be a little easier..... If any of my new students happen to be reading this, please be sure that you have the kit purchased from the bookstore for the first class. We are going right into drafting the first night. Welcome to my class!!!!
I can't believe it's Christmas already!!!! Totally not ready.... again! Last night I cut the wedding gown FINALLY! I love what the fabric is doing so far! Keep you posted on that front. My dress is almost finished only the hem and appliques need to be finished. It's on hold for the moment.
I am happy to report that I have 11 students so far for the pants module! This is very exciting especially because I have had a privatg lesson with a very fine tailor on how to fit pants. I asked if he would come as a guest for one class this winter, I think it will take some more cajoling though, pehaps tears may work, not sure but I won't give up.
Anyway I may not be back until next Monday after the Holiday madness.... Until then take care and have a safe and Happ
Hello there, it's a snowy Monday complete with wind and cold! Just the type of day to be indoors sewing and cooking. My dress is coming along, haven't been working on it very much as my little granddaughter was here for a couple of days and when she is here very little work is accomplished! She is way to cute to ignore especially at 7 months old! Went to the William Ashley sale on Saturday and broke the bank! So I am getting ready for Christmas slowly.... it is such a distraction from my work! Anyway today is a work day and I am not allowed to look niether right nor left until I am done! I promise to take some pictures and post them on this blog of the pattern pieces and how they are created.
ciao a presto!
Hello all, just touching base before I get into the Christmas rush. So far all I have been doing is working on my dress and altering a wedding gown. Very complicated affair, she lost 50 lbs. AFTER she received the dress!!!!! Not an easy task to take it in and hem it etc. The good news is that it's almost finished. I have been working on my mother-of-the-groom dress on and off, the built in corset has proven to be a bit of a challenge especially when the supplies have to be mailed back and forth. But I know it will all come together in the end, I am about 50% of the way there now.
We had a fitting with my future daughter-in-law and it was sooooo much fun we re-designed the wedding gown and hair and head piece and so on! This is the fun of custom made, the freedom to choose and follow what the fabric tells you to do, I have been laughingly called the "fabric whisperer"! Indeed fabric whisperer.... if only.... Anyway this is a lot of fun, if I ever get my act together and take some pictures or a video I will post them so you can see the progress from the pattern draft to the finished product. I have every good intention of doing this, bring the camera with me, place it on the counter, get to work and before you know it, I have finished and the camera is still on the counter right where I left it!
