Hello all just letting you know that there is still space available to register for the sleeves sewing class. Please register for the class called "sleeves and collars" as that is the one that is offered however they are out of order. The actual material you will be learning is the dresses with sleeves which is the next one in line. The sleeves and collars come afterwards, students have to learn how to draft them before they can use them! So far there are 4 registered so we have space for a couple more people...... It is very worthwhile to take the sewing because you learn so much more than just sewing; fitting and more about transferring the adjustments to the pattern pieces and making everything jive.
Have a great day
I would like to thank all of you who were in my classes this weekend at the Creativ Festival it was my pleasure to share my passion with you even in an evening gown! Made facebook with that picture!
To the ladies who took the pad stitching class, as you can see from the pictures on my site the front stay should be catch-stitched to the jacket front, don't remember if we got that far in class but in any case it must be done.
I hope what you learned in class will serve you well in future projects. In the event you do use some of this new knowledge please send me a picture I would love to see the finished product plus some pix of the work itself while you are doing it!
Have a great year and hopefully our paths will cross again in the future until then may your blessings be many and your hardships be none. Cheers.
Hello all just wanted to wish the team good luck they have a great idea/concept and the talent to execute the task! Do your best and don't stress, be prepared to make changes if necessary and most of all DON'T SECOND GUESS YOURSELF OR OVER THINK THINGS!
Very proud of this and all of my teams!
For these 2 weeks there is no homework assigned. However if you have time and would like to continue to practice your drafting go ahead but use different measurements than your own.
No classes on Oct. 24 or 31.
Ciao see you at the festival!
Hello all here is your homework for the next class. Please cut out the lining and sew together the front and back princess lines leaving the side seams open to sew in the bustier in class. For added accuracy hand baste together the side seams on the lining and try it on just to see the fit that will tell you if the main fabric is going to fit well or not. If you are satisfied with the fit then go ahead and cut the main fabric and if necessary underline it with interfacing depending on your fabric choice it can be either fusible or sew in. Once the bustier is sewn into the garment the rest will come together very quickly.
Remember no class next week see you at the festival!
Hello all just wanted to put a reminder that we will be in A217 on Thursday.
I want to wish you and your families all the best for this holiday weekend, May your blessings be many and your hardships be none! I am thankful for having gotten to know you all and count you among my friends! Be well and try to get some rest it's going to be a busy couple of weeks!
Hello ladies is it just me or are these classes just flying by?! I hope everyone understands the objective of the built in bustier class; it actually merges two different methods into one actually simplifying the construction all the while making it much more comfortable to wear. This is my own method so if you try to find examples of this procedure you may be disappointed.
Anyway your homework for this week is to cut and sew together the duoplex only. Be sure you have the boning lines tailor tacked before you come to class there will not be enough time to do it in class. Also cut the power net to size and bring in all the other materials as well. We will be cutting the boning and finishing it with the tips, at least a couple of pieces so you can understand the procedure. Do not cut the twill tape or underwire casing ahead of time, the best way is to cut it as you sew it for greater accuracy. I am hoping we will have the bustier ready to attach to the lining in the following class.
So please bring into class on Thursday the following in addition to what was written above:
perhaps a piece of 2X4 about 30 cm long
a source of heat blow dryer, candle, blow torch (kidding!!!) or anything else you can think of that will shrink plastic tubing
Yes this is a sewing class!!!! Please leave the staple gun at home :)
Hello ladies what a beautiful job done on the tops so far! The only homework you have for these two weeks is to finish the unfinished tops that need to be handed in for grading. The vest may be finished in class but if you want to create an original top by all means go ahead and finish the vest at home and bring your new project into the next class to work on. This is not a requirement for the class it's your choice what you want to do.
Have a great Thanksgiving!
Hello ladies great job with the sleeves!
Your homework is to draft one of the dresses (it can be short but has to have some flare) on page 61 with the sleeves please. You are to cut and sew a mock up of the dress with the mock princess lines and bring it to class. Please use only broadcloth or something to that effect that you can write on, leave the sleeves with the paper pattern still pinned onto the fabric it will be marked in class and then hand basted on to the dress to fit the sleeve. Think back to the gored skirt and you will be able to draft it on your own with minimal difficulty.
Don't forget there is no class on Friday October 10, 2104 as most of the class will be away so it was voted on that there will be class added to the end of the semester on November 28.
Have a great Thanksgiving!
OOOPs the title should read October 2, 2014
