Well another module has come and gone in a flash! I am so very proud of the students and your accomplishments, it is a pleasure and a privilege to teach this wonderful art to such great people with even greater personalities!
I will be away without any access to the internet for a couple of weeks (probably suffer some withdrawl!) so while I am away practice the bodice draft and adjustments for your personal measurements, understand it well next module will only re-enforce what you have already learned. Please write down any question that arise so you can ask me when I come back just to keep me on my toes! See you soon
Hello all what a busy class it was on Monday! You have done a great job so far, keep it up only one week left!
Your homework for this week of course is to study for the exam, the scales, labels and their uses, the various formulas for figuring out the base dart and try to do a draft of a front and back without the book so you can find out what you need to practice.
The other part of the homework is to cut the top drafted on Monday using the stretch fabric brought to class on Monday. Cut out the front and back as well as the facings for the front and back complete with interfacing. Hint * for the back facing just trace the neckline, measure 4 cm at the shoulder incline and 4 cm at the centre back and join the points by measuring down 4 cm from the neckline all the way across then cut it out and voila` the back facing! Please use a fusi-knit to interface the facings only. Bring all this to the next class and we will put them together.
The other thing I would like to do is demonstrate how to finish the vest by sewing together the side seams. There will only be 2 hours of sewing time so if you would like a digital record of how to finish the vest bring in a recording device and use it as I do the demo. I doubt there will be enough time to do both the top and vest during this class. Please bring an extension cord if you happen to have a spare one with multiple outlets.
Have a great 2 weeks!
Hello all and let me say how pleased I am with the test results!
For this week your homework is to create a vest draft using your own pesonal
measurements. Use the vest done in class as your guide, create the vest in the
same manner with the side and fish eye darts rather than a princess seam. Add
in your personal adjustments and cut out a vest and lining in inexpensive
fabric we will be stitching it together in class next week. Also please bring
in some fabric with a stretch to it we will be drafting a top specifically for
If you have not completely resolved your fit issues and have some time to cut
out the tapered dress it would be a good idea to do so just to see if in fact
all the issues have been resolved.
HELLO ALL AND IT IS MY PLEASURE TO ANNOUNCE THE INTENSIVE PATTERN DRAFTING WEEK AT GEORGIAN COLLEGE WILL BE RUNNING ON JUNE 25 TO 29 (inclusive)!!! It is going to be INTENSE and wonderful all at the same time! The details are finalized and you can call the College for more information or go to www.georgianc.on.ca the phone number is on the home page. This is the best news ever especially because if you live far away you can take advantage of the reduced rates for accommodations on campus. By the time you go home you will be confident enough to create your own designs and wear them with pride! I am sooooooo excited about this, jumping out of my skin excited!!!
Hello all this is going to be short and sweet. NO HOMEWORK THIS WEEK.
I was asked if students should do another mock up incorporating the personal adjustments I said it was not a requirement however if they wish to do so please go ahead and bring it into class next week. Please bring in the pattern that was done last night of the dress on page 38 with you next week.
Have a great week!
