Hello all and sorry for the delay in writing it has been, well busy to say the least.
Your homework is to create a basic pattern block using your own personal measurements, a front and back.
For next class we will be covering the base dart, very important part of the puzzle that is the bodice. Please draft 3 more front using the generic measurements that were handed out last week and 1 back. This will better utilize the in-class time and give you more practice with the basic block on your own because you really don't know what you don't know until you do it by yourself! I'm anticipating many questions :)
Have a good week!
Sorry for the delay in writing, under the circumstances I'm sure you understand......
Your homework for this week was to finish what you were doing in class. Please go over the pages we covered on Thursday showing the personal adjustments based on the measurements given in class:
½ bust 55
½ waist 47
½ hips 60
Front neck to waist 47
Back neck to waist 41
½ shoulders 20
Bust height 32
Bust distance 13
You can show the adjustments in a different colour pencil or you can do 3 different drafts showing each adjustment individually. Use whichever method is easier for you to understand.
This coming Thursday we will begin drafting the dress with front yoke in a contrasting colour/fabric/texture shown on page 42 - 43. I am hoping for almost all to be present so we can swap measurements and draft one for a classmate... If you cannot be present please let me know so we can make it work somehow.
Classes start tonight once again and I could not be happier, too much work being at home!
Just an FYI both Thursday and Friday classes will be in A221. Looking forward to seeing everyone again :)
Hello to all my students just wanted to let you know that your grades are available on Blackboard. Go to the main Georgian page and click on login; click on Blackboard; enter your student ID; your birthdate is your password; go to grade centre and you should see your grades. I hope you have no problems with this, if you do contact the College and speak to the IT department, they will guide you through the process.
For the pants drafting class I will return your exams on the first night of the tops class.
Ciao have a great day!
My senior students have done a fantastic job so far with their garments. This module is probably the toughest in the program with THREE garments that were graded plus the fashion show challenge garment. All this with a full time job, family, responsibilities etc.
These ladies truly are amazing even Antonia (director of Le Grand Chic Italia) thought so and wrote a letter of commendation to them explaining what she felt when she saw pictures of the fashion show. She wrote
"You have realized garments splendidly with great effort and workmanship creating patterns appropriate for the fabrics using precision in the sewing process with a perfect fit on the wearer. Regarding the fit of each and every outfit GOOD; no, EXCELLENT JOB. "
Needless to say the students were very happy to receive this letter and made the teacher very proud to have such talented students!
Keep up the good work!
