Hello all, sorry for the delay in writing your homework I have been away with no access to internet.
For your homework you are to study the draft, scales, letters and their uses. There will also be some common sense questions on the test that were covered verbally in class. Please create a new pattern and mock up taking into account the issues that were identified in last Monday's class. Bring the new mock ups in for a second fitting and to fine tune any outstanding problems. Don't forget your dress fitting chart, we will be filling it out in class based on the findings, it will be a great guide for future reference. The fit is paramount in garment making.
front fly zipper pockets decorative stitching blind hem The fit is paramount, pants must fit the body without any "rays", they must hug the body and hang perfectly from the waist, hips and crotch. Exam will be due on or before May 7, 2012. Failure to hand in the exam will result in a mark of zero. Best of luck and I know you will do a FANTASTIC job Hello all, for this week your homework is to draft a front and back tunic top (25 cm below the waistline) instead of a full dress as shown on page 37, either the second or third graphic (your choice) with the princess lines using your own measurements. Please use your story boards from the last 2 weeks to help you with the drafting. The only difference is the base dart finishes at the bust point and not 3 cm to the right as in the side dart. The princess lines go right over the apex and into the fish-eye dart to shape the garment as shown in class.
The back will only have the fish-eye dart and tapering at the centre back as shown on page 36. You will then incoporate your personal adjustments BEFORE cutting out the paper. Then create please create a mock up to fit in class next week. Please be sure to notch the waist and hip reference points as you have done in past modules. You can do this. The best advice I can give is don't second guess yourselves, you already have the skill set to accomplish this task it's no different than sewing a skirt together only with longer lines. Hello all I am pleased to announce that Jane Decola owner of Brabary will be coming to Georgian to speak to the issue of how to purchase the proper fitting bra on April 23. The importance of a well fitting bra for posture, comfort and especially the look and feel of your garments. For more information please contact me and I will be happy to let you know which room etc.
Can you believe it? Next week is our last class! Wow, where did the time go?
For this week just study for your exam, my suggestion is draft a pants front and back only from memory then check the book to see how you fared. You will be asked to draft and label the lines, add the measurements that will be given in class along with a legend much like the skirts. There will be questions as well so know your fixed measurements, terminology etc. You all aced the skirts exam I'm sure you will do the same for pants. After the exam we will be doing some seam finishes so please bring in about 12 muslin rectangles measuring 40 cm X 25 cm, your sewing machines etc. Hello ladies and please allow me to compliment you on a job well done so far! For April 27 please have your coat ready to add banded buttonholes, so it must be stitched together enough to try on as once these are done there is no going back! Please bring extra fabric for practice.
ciao have a great couple of weeks! Hello all, great job with the base dart! This is an easy week for you all that is required is a front with a side dart as was done in class using personal measurements. Please bring it as well as the back that was created in class last night for next week to compare measurements and put the finishing touches on the pattern.
Can you believe it only 2 classes left and we are done with pants! Last night you did an AMAZING job with pocket installation as well as the pants draft! You inspire me to be a better teacher and I thank you for that!
Your homework this week is to install another front pocket just for practice. The other thing is to cut out 6 full fronts with the front fly to create the story board for zipper installation. Please bring the pants fronts as well as 4 front flies, interfacing and 6 zippers (the ones that sell 3 for $1 will suffice). Use a light colour fabric so it can be written on and will be visible. This a great addition to your reference library. Don't forget your sewing machines as well. Hello ladies your instructions for the next class had been posted and are still available if you scroll down you will see it. Just a thought perhaps we can start the class at 2:00 pm and finish at 5:00? It might be a little easier for all, no rushing ar
Hello all great job last night! For this week your homework is to create a front and back base block using your classmates' measurements. Please organize your storyboards in order of the steps and bring them to class next week.
We will be adding the base dart and side dart to the front of the block next class. The students who missed the first night please come in at 6:30 or earlier so I can help you get caught up to the class. |
