CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done on the tests! A perfect score by all never happened before!
For homework I would like you to finish the back for the capris using your measurements and make all the necessary adjustments as per last night's findings on the mock ups. Please bring them to class for everyone to compare and see the differences. Is it any wonder we can't find pants that fit off the rack?! Also create a front with short legs just to practice the pocket installation, because you are so good at the drafting please create a back as well with the same short legs.
For next class please bring enough muslin to create a story board for pocket installation, fusible interfacing and twill tape. We will also be practicing our tailor tacking so don't forget the sewing kits.
Great job ladies you should be very proud of your accomplishments I know I am!
Hello all please accept my apologies for being a little foggy with the homework, as you saw I was not feeling 100%. This morning things are a bit more clear, so for homework you are to finish the draft incoporating the adjustments found in the mock-up. If you have no adjustments, great do a new draft anyway for practice. You are also to cut a mock-up and machine stitch it together using the new pattern with the adjustments. Bring them into class next week just to compare with the mock-ups from the previous class and to see if there are any further adjustments. Record the adjustments made on your chart for future reference.
Week 5 is usually used to clear up any foggy points shown on the minute papers, I did not receive any back so I am going on the premise there are no foggy points; so we will be drafting a pair of capris with pockets and front fly zipper. Please bring some fabric to cut out pocket sections as well as the capris , we will try and do as much as possible in class. The following week we will be installing the pockets.
Hello ladies, so module 3 will start on April 2, 2012, it will run on Mondays only. They will also adjust the start date for mod 4 so we can finish a couple of weeks earlier and have a little more summer!
Hello all sorry to say that module 3 starting tonight has been postponed for a few weeks to allow the classes to merge into one larger class. I will keep you posted as to the start date.
Sorry about this, nothing I can do about it. See you soon.
Hello all, as I said I get my best ideas in the middle of the night..... please bring in your mock-ups that were created in class with the adjustments (if any), if you have them done otherwise bring in the original mock-ups for us to see and compare
Hello all and can I say job well done!!!! You are truly AMAZING sewers! For next week we will be creating dress pants so can you please have your pattern ready to cut the fabric in the morning. Add in the pockets and front fly as shown in the book, if you are not 100% sure, no worries do your interpretation of it as that is the objective to see how well you can understand the instructions on your own, we will be going over any questions in class first thing. You can use any fabric you choose that is suitable for dress pants similar to a cotton/poly gabardine or a wool crepe etc.
Don't forget to bring in your fusible interfacing as well as a zipper
Hello ladies, you are going to have some pretty HOT coats! For next class taking place on Easter Monday from 1 to 4 please be sure you have your pattern pieces cut out along with the interfacing pieces for the facing, sleeve hem, collar and the shorter coats will need interfacing at the hemline. The longer coats do not need this. Have a safe and happy Easter and I am looking forward to the next class.
Hello all, sorry for the delay in writing this announcement. Your homework is to stitch together the mock-ups ready to fit next week in class. The objective is to see how different bodies require different adjustments, or similar adjustments in a different way. It is the most important aspect of creating garments, the fit is paramount. We will be re-drafting a pants pattern using personal measurements and incorporating the adjustments shown on mock-up. Just in case there is time please bring in some more muslin to re-cut the pants and re-fit them just to see the difference between the initial mock-up and the adjusted one.
The beginning of the class will be a test worth 10% of your final mark. Please study the scales, their names and numbers. There will be some general questions to be answered in sentence form. It's nothing that you haven't covered. Good luck!
Hello ladies your homework for this week is to create one pants front and two pants back using your own measurements. You will keep one pants back with your measurements in your reference files and use the other to cut the outseam with the front.
For next week please bring in the completed pattern, muslin, sewing kit and a tracing wheel. We will be basting together the pants and fitting them.
Hello ladies, sorry for the delay in writing this announcement, I was away yesterday.
In any case congratulations on a job well done in your first class of the pants module! For your homework you were to use one of your classmates' measurements to create a pants front. This is a great exercise because when you change the numbers you have to really stop and think about what you are doing even though the method is the same.
Next week please bring back the front story-board it is a good reference in doing the back. Have a great week and better weather for Wednesday!
