Hello ladies I sent an email to this effect as well; tonight's class is cancelled because I am sick. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but I feel it a necessary step in not spreading this very nasty bug. We will discuss a make up class next week. In the meantime please re-do the drafts that were done in class last week using personal measurements as a way of not losing momentum and still have the basic blocks for next week's class as planned.
The drafts were the cap sleeve with Mandarin collar dress and the strapless dress. Even if you don't ever plan to wear anything strapless please do the draft anyway just for training purposes.
Have a great day and weekend
Hello ladies and welcome back to class unfortunately I am sick and do not wish to pass it on to others so the class will start next week. I am very sorry for this development but feel it is necessary to keep my germs to myself and stay away from others. I already emailed everyone but just in case it was not read I thought I would post it. Please contact each other to be sure that everyone has received the message.
Thanks, see you next week
Great job on doing a lot of work ladies!
For next week we will be fitting the body so please draft a pencil skirt using your own measurements using the revised waist to hip length (if any revisions), you are to create a master pattern and trace the front and back mark with notches, grainlines etc. and label them accordingly.
Please bring enough fabric to class to cut one skirt, a basic sewing kit, some tailor's chalk as well. We will be cutting out the skirt and basting it together by hand to try on.
The other thing was to save the date April 25, 2015 is the date for the intermediate and senior fashion show at the Edgehill Banquet Hall. It's for the Kinette club of Barrie, a charity fundraiser and the students participate as a way of showing their work and it's a lot of fun!
Here is the basic terminology of sewing to print off. If you have trouble opening it please let me know and I will email it to you.
Hello all and welcome back to class! I could not be happier than to teach this class especially because you give up your Friday nights to be there! Last night was particularly intense with so much new work covered but you are troopers and completed all the tasks assigned in record time! Kudos!!
Your homework for this week is to create a few fronts and backs to use in future classes using personal measurements. For this coming Friday you will need 5 basic blocks only of fronts and 3 backs. In the syllabus it states that there will be a short tutorial on the two piece sleeve, we are NOT going to be doing that quite yet there are other things we are going to cover prior to this task. Please write down any questions you may have regarding the first class as they come up so I can answer them in class when we re-convene.
If you have time and can possibly re-do the drafts done in class using your own measurements that would be great. You can do it in the same manner, draft one master and trace the rest adding the movements in a different colour pencil. This is a suggestion and not a requirement.
Have a great day
Hello all well I'm back although it was touch and go especially going from +29 to - 29! It wasn't that bad.... I have to say that Jamaica is a wonderful place to go and I will go back hopefully sooner rather than later....
I see some have registered for the upcoming classes but not all please don't let your classmates down and register as soon as you can.
There is a brand new program starting in Tuesday January 20, 2015 from 6:30 to 9:30 if you are interested in pattern drafting and/or want to learn to design this is your opportunity to make that dream come true! The course is taught from Barrie with video conferencing for the Muskoka and Owen Sound campuses, the best opportunity to have this kind of in-depth instruction close to home. As far as I know Georgian is the only school in this area who can offer this type of world class instruction in the fashion field. Don't forget students are eligible to write their Italian fashion arts exam right here once the programs are completed. NO OTHER SCHOOL CAN OFFER THAT! Register now to avoid disappointment!
Hello all going on a much needed vacation tomorrow! Can't wait to be in the sunshine and warm weather! I will be out of touch for the next little while but when I come back with batteries completely re-charged look out work here I come!!! My favourite part of going away is no cooking or cleaning :) That seems to be the most tedious part for me I could work without any problem even 24/7 but meal planning an keeping the house clean is the real work I need a vacation from!
Hope the new year is off to a great start.
Cheers, see you soon!
