Hello all and great job last night! Fitting pants is the most important class of all, anyone can draft a pants pattern but it takes real talent to fit them properly.
Your homework for this week is to draft a pants pattern using your own personal measurements and incorporating the adjustments discussed in class that you wrote on the chart. If you have time try another mock up on your own just to compare the original one and the new one. Bring it to class for show and tell if you can. For next week we will be drafting the pants yet again and adding a front fly and pockets. Hello all, just wanted to congratulate you on a job well done on Saturday Jan. 28! The wrap skirts were a great success, two had them almost finished. There is one very beginner and she held her own and an intermediate student who also did a fantastic job!
For next week we will be doing the bias skirt so please bring in the pattern with your personall adjustments already done, fabric (2 heights), interfacing, zipper and button. It will be a short class only 3 hours and by the end students will have another brand new skirt to wear! Hello all and congrats on a job well done once again! For your homework draft a pencil skirt using your own measurements, add all the markings, grainlines etc ready to use in class next week.
You are to bring to class enough muslin (broadcloth) to create a sample of a pencil skirt, your pattern, a basic sewing kit and of course your drafting kit. See you Wednesday Hello ladies, for the next class you are to bring 2 heights of fabric, lining, buttons etc. to create the wrap skirt of your choice. Please have the pattern done beforehand ready to cut the lining first. You did a bang up job on the pencil skirt so lets see if the trend will continue! This class is an AM and PM class so bring a lunch!
Hello, this is a reminder that next week is the test and it will take place in the first hour, so please be prompt. Study the front and back drafts, the differences between the front and back, the importance of the knee position, the scales and their uses, also a fixed measurement is a measurement that does not change no matter what.
Your homework besides studying is to cut, tailor tack and stitch together a pants mock up to bring to class next week for a fitting. Leave the tailor tacking in place to prove that it was done. You are to leave 3 cm s. a. at the inseam and side seam, 2 cm around the crotch and nothing at the hemline and waistline. The pants may be machine stitched together. That's all! Hello all and can I say what a great class it was last night! Your homework for this week is to draft a pencil skirt with the adjustments for an A-line and tapered skirt using different colour pencils/highlighters, also add the slit at the cnetre back hemline. You were given the measurements in class to use for this draft.
Good luck and see Hello all, another great class! For your homework this week you are to draft a front and back using your classmates' measurements. On the pants BACK ONLY highlight the lines that differ from the front. Place the front over the back and cut from point F to the hemline, that is the only place I want cut, leave the rest intact. *Tip: before cutting be sure all the lines are aligned, if not correct them. If you don't have a classmates' measurements use someone else's measurements, not your own.
For next week please bring in some muslin (broadcloth) to cut a mock up for the pants. We will also be going over how to cross check the measurements and make any personal adjustments. Hello students and welcome to the European Pattern Making course! It is my pleasure to be your instructor on this wonderful journey into the fashion design world. We start with the skirts module because it is the best way to become acquainted with the tools of the trade. These tools are a one time expense and will see you through all the modules and beyond to create your own designs that are unique to your taste, size and budget.
For Wednesday's class please be sure you have the kit and a roll of tracing paper along with pencils and erasers. The first night is dedicated to the pencil skirt created using your own measurements. See you Wednesday! Maria Looking forward to a brand new Wednesday skirts drafting class! There is still room in the class for a few more, if you have been thinking about joining now is your chance. Not sure if it will be offered from the beginning again in September, as we are hoping to set up the online classes soon. Don't forget to sign up for the sewing classes as well, the skirts start on Saturday, in the event of a snow day the class will be held on the following day, Sunday, unless of course the roads are impassible. I am so excited to go on this wonderful adventure with all of my students because I learn just as much as they do in the course of these classes! It is truly my pleasure and privilege to teach this course! I am truly humbled by the response I have been getting from the students.
Hello ladies, job well done last night! Great job on the pants drafts and story board, I think this will be a wonderful module!
Your homework this week is to create a pants front using your personal measurements, that's it. See you next week for the back draft. |
