Hello Ann these classes are not for the faint of heart are they????? Your progress is unbelievable considering there is no one else there to help you!
This week we worked on fitting pants, no small task for anyone but particularly difficult when working alone although a big thank you goes to your husband for being a good sport and helping pin the mock up :) Once we "read" the mock up we found a few issues which is absolutely the rule and not the exception! The exception is when a pair of pants fit perfectly the first time even when drafted using personal measurements is it any wonder off the rack pants never fit. So for this week you are to re-draft your pattern with the revisions that were done "in class" and create a second mock up to see where we are with the outseam, if it is plumb to the floor or if there will need to be further adjustments done. Sometimes it takes a few mock ups before we can get a well fitting pant so don't think you are doing anything wrong, it's just the process so enjoy the journey of understanding how with pants everything is not what it seems to be! The next thing I would like you to do is to create a mock up using different measurements and fit that person. Then you are to "read" the mock up and make the changes on the master pattern and pattern pieces as to how you think the issues should be addressed, I will review your findings at the beginning of next class. For next week we will be drafting pants with no side seams as well as pants with pockets and a front fly zipper and tracing the pattern pieces. You will get further instructions next week regarding the storyboards on the zipper and pockets which will be done the following week. Like I said not for the faint of heart :) Have a great week, work hard and learn a lot! Comments are closed.
