For this week we covered the skirts with a box pleat, knife pleat and a wrap skirt on pages 24 - 25. They are created with a base back and then traced with the movements shown on page 25 at the centre front. So far you have done most of the work on the back, these styles are different as the work is mostly on the front. Please note the plumb lines at the centre front (1 cm to the left of the centre front) for the proper hang when wearing the skirt.
The marks for the test are on Blackboard so please log on to get your grades, I will have the tests next week to return to the missing students.
For this week your homework is as follows:
- Cut out two fronts only on fabric; one with a box pleat and one with a knife pleat and sew the pleats as they would on a skirt, the box pleat is sewn down the centre only part of the way down the centre front and then divided on both sides of the stitching line while the knife pleat is folded and placed to one side of the centre front.
- Mark both the centre front and plumb line with tailor tacks using different colour thread and bring them to class next week
- Next week we will be covering circle skirts and volants, bring a lot of paper!
- Final week we will be covering asymmetrical skirts after the exam
Have a great week
